 A picture is worth more than a thousand words including words like disaster, dignity, rights, justice and shameless hypocrisy

Ramallah is the home base of the "moderate" Fatah/PLO regime headed by Mahmoud Abbas that controls the Palestinian Authority. That's where this protest took place on Friday. The caption for this APF photo says it shows protesters holding portraits of relatives held in Israeli jails, and that the demonstration is "to show solidarity" with them. 

In an NBC News report plaintively headed "As Palestinian hunger strikers starve, a mother waits", Yara Borgal makes a heart-tugging effort to evoke sympathy for the mother of one of the prisoners on hunger strike. Then the report moves on to the more serious part of this: the explicit threats by the political leadership of the Palestinian Arabs:

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas warned Israel that the death of one of the prisoners could result in chaos. “If anybody dies today or tomorrow or after a week it would be a disaster and no one could control the situation," Abbas said in an interview with Reuters at his office in Ramallah. "I told the Israelis and the Americans if they do not find a solution for this hunger strike immediately, they will be committing a crime."
Issa Qaraqe, the Palestinian Authority’s minister of prisoner affairs, has appealed to the international community, including the U.N. and even Pope Benedict, to intervene. “Palestinian hunger strikers are fighting for what they have been systematically denied — their dignity, rights and justice,” he said. “I appeal to the world to immediately intervene and save the prisoners’ lives before it’s too late. If the hunger strike results in the death of one of the prisoners then Israel should expect an escalation of violence in the West Bank and even inside the Israeli prisons.”

We're in favour of dignity, rights and justice. Especially justice.

That's why it's so absolutely infuriating to us that editors, photographers, reporters and news readers from all over the world continue to report on these protests without so much as a mention of whom the protestors are supporting and with whom they are expressing their solidarity.

Why does no editor or reporter comment on the face
in the poster on the right? What does this say about their
comprehension of the issue? And ours?

To understand how public sentiment is being abused, you need to know the identity of the prisoner with the cap in the poster on the right. His name is Abdullah Barghouti. We posted about him this past Wednesday [9-May-12: We know they're hungry... but for what, exactly?]. 

In his career so far as a well-educated, well-traveled, music-loving psychopathic assembler of bombs and killer of Jews, he has murdered 66 people. But that's not a large enough number for Barghouti. He says that if and when he gets out of prison then he intends to keep at it. In an interview on American CBS television, he made his pain clear and explicit:

"Yes, I feel bad, because I want more..."

You can feel how much he hates Jews, and he's not alone in that passion. He and many hundreds of other fellow convicted terrorists, many of them murderers, are being represented by the Palestinian Arab politician we quoted above who is seeking the support of the the U.N. "and even Pope Benedict" to secure for these men and women "what they have been systematically denied — their dignity, rights and justice". 

So while we're thinking about dignity, rights and justice, here's a reminder of whom the protestors want your intervention to benefit:
