Assad’s Syria applauds UN Security Council resolution...PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN GLASS HOUSES SHOULD NOT THROW STONES!!!!!

Establishment daily welcomes diplomatic involvement, condemns Arab states

The Syrian government applauded a United Nations Security Council statement issued this week, considering it a victory for Syrian diplomacy.
“The statement was diametrically opposed to the political direction led by Qatar and Saudi Arabia toward Syria,” wrote the lead editorial in government mouthpiece Tishrin Friday. The daily, which expresses the attitude of Bashar Assad’s regime, was especially pleased with the UN endorsement of Kofi Annan’s mission and its recognition of “armed groups targeting civilians.” Tishrin also lauded the UN emphasis on the importance of a political dialogue to end the crisis led by Syria.
Syria has called for political dialogue with the international emissary in a move some western commentators fear will only allow him more time to crush domestic opposition. The UN resolution seemed to create an equivalency between violence carried out by the Assad government and the opposition.
In Wednesday’s resolution, supported by Russia and China, the United Nations called for the “cessation of armed violence in all its forms by all parties to protect civilians and stabilise the country.”
The editorial lashed out at three regional countries: Qatar, Saudi Arabia and Turkey, which have all called for tougher intervention in Syria. It accused Saudi Arabia of providing weapons to “armed gangs in Syria”; Turkey of calling for a buffer zone in Syria to protect refugees; and Qatar for supporting international and Arab military intervention.
“The Syrians will not relent in holding accountable the countries and elements involved in spilling Syrian blood,” concluded the editorial.
Saudi-controlled Arab press has previously dubbed Annan’s mission in Syria “a waste of time.”
On Friday, the United Nations Human Rights Council harshly condemned“widespread, systematic and gross violations of human rights” on the part of the Syrian government.
