Queen Elizabeth’s 35 karat pink diamond to mark her Jubilee

A small item in the Algemeiner caught my eye this morning, and it goes to illustrate the utter madness of the BDS (boycott divest sanctions) hate brigade.

A huge pink diamond, 35.6 karats, has been given to Queen Elizabeth as a gift on the occasion of her Jubilee, 60 years on the throne. But the diamond has become the target of anti-Israel activists because it was donated by family who “supports Israeli soldiers”.

The 35.60 karat diamond placed in the Tower of London to mark Queen Elizabeth II’s 60 years on the throne, is now the subject of anti-Israel activists who want the Queen to decline the gift because of the diamond’s affiliation with the Steinmetz family, which helps support Israeli soldiers.

“We are shocked and disappointed by the decision of De Beers to present the Queen of England with a diamond manufactured by the Steinmetz Diamond company,” said Helmi Sammoni of Gaza. “We the Sammoni family call on the Queen of England and the British people to decline this gift.”

The activists are calling the stone  – dubbed the “Steinmetz Forevermark Jubilee Diamond” -  a blood diamond, despite the stone having no link to the globally accepted definition of the term.  Blood diamonds are stones which help African rebels finance their movements, which often involve child soldiers, torture, and rape.

The whole issue is not only laughable, but is also negligible in that it is highly unlikely the Queen will either hear of this plea or pay any attention to it.  But it goes to show the utter insanity of the Israel-haters who scramble and scrape the barrel in order to find the slightest possible link to anything positive about Israel – and then demand it be boycotted or banned.

Long may the BDS-ers waste their time on such inanities while we continue to grow and build.
